We have strengthened our position as the market leader in used car sales by also growing into Finland's largest electric vehicle retailer. Our company's electric vehicle sales grew by as much as 50 percent in the first quarter of the year compared to the previous year. This growth is driven by consumer confidence in electric vehicles, as well as our ability to source cars that appeal to customers and offer consumers a seamless buying journey.
Finns are now switching to electric vehicles at a record pace. Our statistics show that electric vehicles have moved from the margins to the mainstream. While new car sales have been sluggish, used cars have become an increasingly popular choice among everyday Finnish consumers.
Our CEO Petri Poukkula sees the 50 percent growth as proof that consumers trust electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and the used electric vehicle market.
"We want to sell better individual cars while also transforming the entire car buying process in Finland. Our success in electric vehicles is based on our ability to scale our services and supply chain to meet the rapidly growing demand. When it comes to used electric vehicles, trust is everything, and we want to be the most transparent player in the market," says CEO Petri Poukkula.
Comfort and choice across all price ranges
The growing demand shows that electric vehicles are no longer just expensive luxury items — there are now options available for every budget.
Why is the electric vehicle winning right now?
- Performance and comfort: The quietness and rapid acceleration of an electric vehicle make the driving experience superior compared to traditional combustion engines.
- Versatility: The selection now covers everything from agile city cars to spacious family SUVs.
- Better quality: Saka's renewed condition inspection process ensures that the electric vehicles for sale have been thoroughly inspected, including battery capacity testing.
- Affordability: Electric vehicle prices have dropped to the level of traditional powertrains, and their running costs are truly modest, especially with home charging and a good electricity contract.
"Despite the rapid growth in the popularity of electric vehicles, I want to emphasize that over 50% of Finns still drive combustion engine cars. There is still a buyer for every type of powertrain, and we believe that will continue to be the case in the future," concludes CEO Poukkula.
