Polestar 4

Full electric SUV coupé

Overview

Polestar 4 in Brief

The Polestar 4 is a fully electric SUV coupé that breaks traditional design boundaries by eliminating the rear window entirely to maximize aerodynamics and interior space. It is designed for the driver who seeks the boldest innovation of the electric era, uncompromising performance, and Scandinavian luxury. The Polestar 4 delivers a sports car-like dynamic driving experience without sacrificing the spaciousness expected of a family car. It is the smart choice for the modern trailblazer who values visual impact and effortless technology.

Who Is the Polestar 4 For?

The Polestar 4 is right for you if:
  • You value unprecedented design: The rear windowless structure enables a panoramic roof that extends to the back and creates a uniquely open, airy feel in the cabin.
  • You want the fastest acceleration in the lineup: The Dual Motor version goes from 0–60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, making it the fastest Polestar production model to date.
  • You demand the latest technology: A 15.4-inch main display, a digital rear-view mirror with an HD camera, and an electrochromic glass roof bring the driving experience of the future into the present.
  • You require top-tier safety: A full five-star rating in Euro NCAP testing and industry-leading driver assistance systems provide peace of mind in all conditions.

Long Range Single Motor

The rear-wheel drive version is designed for long-distance driving. It offers the longest range in the lineup and a lower purchase price than the Dual Motor. The power output is well suited for everyday driving and highway use.

Long Range Dual Motor

The Dual Motor features two electric motors, one on each axle. All-wheel drive provides excellent traction even on slippery surfaces, and the 3.8-second 0–60 mph acceleration ranks among the fastest in the electric vehicle segment. The trade-off is a slightly shorter range compared to the Single Motor.

Performance Pack

The Performance Pack is an optional upgrade for the Dual Motor version, designed for drivers who want a more responsive driving feel. The package includes:
  • tuned suspension
  • Brembo brakes
  • 22-inch forged wheels
  • gold-colored accents
The gold-colored accents make it easy to identify the Performance version at a glance in listing photos.

Battery and Charging

The Polestar 4 supports DC fast charging at up to 200 kW, and the battery charges from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes. Actual charging time depends on battery temperature and the output of the charging station. At home or at work, the car can be charged on AC power at a slower rate and lower cost.
WLTP energy consumption is approximately 15.4 kWh per 100 km for the Single Motor and approximately 15.9 kWh per 100 km for the Dual Motor, excluding charging losses. Polestar's battery comes with an 8-year or 100,000-mile warranty, covering situations where the battery's state of health (SOH) drops below 70% of its original capacity. In Finland, electric vehicle batteries are tested using the Aviloo battery test, so the battery condition can be verified before purchase.

Transmission

Electric vehicles use a single fixed gear ratio, so there is no need to shift gears. Acceleration is smooth and uninterrupted.

Driving Experience and Features

No rear window. A distinctive feature of this SUV coupe is that instead of a traditional rear window, the rear view is provided through a digital rearview mirror and an HD camera. The display shows a camera image rather than a mirror reflection, and most drivers get used to it quickly. Be sure to try it on a test drive in both dark and rainy conditions.
Cabin. The cabin is clean and minimalist, with functions controlled via a touchscreen. Ambient lighting adds a distinctive character to the interior.
Features. Examples of features found on vehicles listed for sale in Finland include:
  • Harman Kardon audio system
  • head-up display
  • 360-degree camera

  • tow hitch (on some vehicles)
  • massaging and ventilated front seats (on some vehicles)

Buyer's Guide

Maintenance and Running Costs

An electric car has no oil changes or timing belt, so maintenance costs are often lower than those of a combustion engine vehicle. Running costs depend on charging: home charging is the most affordable, while public fast charging is the most expensive. The Dual Motor's powerful acceleration and large Performance wheels wear tires more quickly, and 22-inch tires cost more than smaller ones. In addition to the purchase price, compare insurance, tire sets, and charging costs.

What Should You Check on a Used Polestar 4?

  • Service history: check the dates of services, mileage readings, repairs carried out, and any upcoming maintenance work.
  • Battery condition: request the results of a battery test (at Saka, electric vehicle batteries are tested using the Aviloo battery test). State of Health (SOH) indicates how much of the original capacity remains.
  • Warranty and recalls: check with an authorized service center using the car's VIN for any remaining warranties, as well as potential recalls and software updates.
  • Charging: test both AC and fast charging, and inspect the charging port and charging cables.
  • Range: compare the estimated range shown on the display with the battery size and model year. Range will be shorter in winter.
  • Digital rear-view mirror: make sure the image is clear and the camera lens is clean. Also check that the mirror's brightness and settings work properly.
  • Software: make sure the car's software is up to date and that the touchscreen, navigation, phone connectivity, and Google services are all functioning.
  • Driver assistance systems and sensors: verify that adaptive cruise control, cameras, radar, and parking sensors are working, and check that there are no warning messages on the display related to driver assistance systems.
  • Suspension and brakes: listen for clunking sounds over bumps and check that the car drives straight. On Performance Pack vehicles, inspect the condition of the brakes and wheels.
  • Body: check the sills, wheel arches, lower door edges, and paintwork for any signs of previous repairs.
  • Tires and wheels: check the condition, age, and wear of both sets of tires. Large forged wheels should also be inspected for damage.

Single Motor or Dual Motor?

Single Motor is a good fit for buyers who frequently take long trips and want the longest range without paying extra for all-wheel drive. Dual Motor suits buyers who want more power and better traction on slippery roads.

Polestar 4 or Polestar 3?

The Polestar 4 is lower, faster, and sportier. The Polestar 3 is a taller and more spacious SUV with a higher towing capacity (2,200 kg) and air suspension.
  • Choose the Polestar 4 if design and driving feel are what matter most.
  • Choose the Polestar 3 if you need more space and towing capability.
